What is the WSA?
Established in 2003 during the UN World Summit on the Information Society (UN WSIS), WSA has become an international awards competition that celebrates outstanding digital applications and innovations.
WSA’s mission is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG´s), showcasing and acknowledging local digital projects and products that contribute to the betterment of society. With active involvement from over 180 countries, the WSA community comprises startups, social entrepreneurs, mentors, speakers, experts, government leaders, academics, and civil society organizations.
Over the years, WSA has selected 677 winners out of more than 4,000 nominations, highlighting the breadth and diversity of impactful digital initiatives worldwide. Among the notable winners are Danish projects such as the popular “Too Good To Go” app, along with “Be My Eyes” and “M-PAYG” recognized in 2017.
What is our role?
Since June 2017, Social Entrepreneurs in Denmark has also been a national expert for the World Summit Awards (WSA), and every year nominates Danish digital innovations that create social impact for the award.
